Happy Father's Day To All Of The Dads!
We wanted to wish all the fathers, both in and out of our fellowship, a Happy Father's Day. We recognize the significance of fatherhood and the profound impact it has not only on the lives of our children but on our whole community. Psalm 103:13, "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him." These words highlight the divine nature of fatherhood and the opportunity for fathers in Christ to reflect God's love. God has chosen fathers to serve as guardians, guides, and role models for their children, entrusted with the responsibility to raise them in the ways of the Spirit. Today, we take a moment to express our deep appreciation for the fathers among us. We acknowledge their commitment to their families, sacrificial love, and tireless efforts to provide and protect. Fathers, we honor you for your strength and your guidance. We also recognize that Father's Day can bring a mix of emotions. While we celebrate the loving and devoted fathers, we acknowledge that others may experience grief, loss, or strained relationships during this time. We want to recognize your pain and extend our love and support. On this Father's Day, let us lift all of the dads in prayer, asking for wisdom, strength, and patience as they navigate the joys and challenges of fatherhood. To all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who are reading this, we thank you. Your dedication and love are cherished gifts to your families and our fellowship. May God bless you abundantly for the countless ways you pour out your hearts into your children's lives. Happy Father's Day! |

Our 2024 Missions Contribution Is Off To A Great Start!Donate today by using Tithely or by sending us a check! As many of you know, this year our Fellowship has decided to focus on five sister churches to donate to for our 2024 Missions Contribution. Those churches are, our sister churches in Angola, Bangkok Thailand, Philippines, RevivEE (Eastern Europe) and Uruguay. We appreciate all donations that have already been given and are grateful for your faith and gift. If you want to give, you can give on our website using Tithely, or you can give us by sending in a check if you do not want to pay the Tithely fee. To Donate Using Tithely: Go to our website, go to the "Give" page, and click on the drop-down menu where it says "General Fund." You will see all five churches listed, and you can select which church you want to give to. (You will also see a "Missions-General" account - for those of us who may not have a preference and want to donate. All the funds in the Missions-General account will be distributed amongst one or more of the five sister churches selected this year.) To Donate Via Check: Some of us may not want to pay the Tithely fee, which can become a stumbling block. Please know you can always send us a check with your donation by sending it to: SF Bay Fellowship, 660 4th Street #294, San Francisco, CA 94107 The five sister churches: If you want a reminder of our connection to each of the five churches we are donating to, please click on the link here. It will take you to last weekend's newsletter, which has a short summary of our connection to each of the five sister churches. God is moving! We look forward to seeing how God will move in this year's Missions contribution. We hope that all of us will join in prayer this month for God to move powerfully and help us raise money for these sister churches. We also pray that our brothers and sisters worldwide feel the love of God and the love of their families around the world, who have them in our prayers. For more infomation visit:

Juneteenth, A Day Of Reflection And Celebration
This week, as we commemorate Juneteenth, we reflect on a significant milestone in our nation's history that carries deep meaning for many Americans. Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day) symbolizes the emancipation of chattel slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is a day of remembrance and celebration. It is a time to honor the courage and perseverance of those who fought for and continue fighting for freedom and justice. It reminds us of our progress as a society and the work needed to achieve full equality and eradicate bigotry and racism in America. Juneteenth serves as a reminder of the resilience, struggle, and triumph of a community that has endured immense hardship and continues to inspire us today. Originating in Galveston, Texas, Juneteenth traces its roots back to June 19, 1865, when a Union General arrived in the city and issued General Order No. 3. This order proclaimed freedom for all enslaved people in Texas, two and a half years after Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth symbolizes when the news of freedom reached many enslaved individuals in America and signifies the end of legal chattel slavery throughout the nation. It should be noted that pockets of slavery remained for decades to follow & many were "re-enslaved" per the legal loophole allowing slavery within prisons. "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." (Isaiah 1:17, NIV) For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face. (Psalm 11:7 NIV) And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice. (Psalm 50:6) God is a God of justice and he calls us to seek justice and defend those who are oppressed. Historically, the Christian church has perpetuated racial inequality and social injustice. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we must confront the painful truth that many of our Christian predecessors have contributed to the suffering experienced by people classified as Black throughout history. The church has often been silent or complicit in the face of systemic racism. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to humbly acknowledge our part in this problem and actively work toward healing and reconciliation. We can start by listening to our brothers' and sisters' stories and experiences, seeking to understand the deep wounds that persist to this day. It is essential to remember that the message of God is one of liberation, restoration, and love. We are called to be agents of change, dismantling the systems and mindsets that perpetuate racial injustice. This Juneteenth, let us reflect on ways we can actively contribute to building a more just and inclusive society. Here are a few suggestions:
Let us pray for healing, unity, and justice, and as Juneteenth is celebrated by some of us in the fellowship and in our communities, let it inspire us to become agents of positive change within our society. |
