Thoroughly Equipped Bible Study ClassOvercoming Race, Racism, and Racial Bigotry in America - Begins: Saturday, September 17, 2022 The purpose of this Bible study series is to equip us to understand better and overcome racism in the United States - its historical context, how it continues to manifest today, and how we should respond to it Biblically (Jeremiah 3:15). Once empowered with understanding & repentance, the assumption is that we can be more effective in serving our communities (1 Corinthians 16:9). Why now? The election of President Trump, the murder of George Floyd, and a collection of other events have spurred a worldwide awakening to the perils of America’s racial caste system. These events have produced a dialog and openness in our communities - folks are seeking answers. As disciples of Christ, this presents a massive opportunity for spiritual impact. So let’s embrace this opportunity and get “thoroughly equipped” for this good work. Our next cohort will begin on Saturday, September 17th, from 9 AM-11 AM, and will continue for 8 Saturdays until early November (except for Sept 24).
If you are interested in joining our upcoming cohort, please email us at justice@sfhousechurch.com for more information and sign up. For more infomation visit:

Hope Worldwide Opportunities to Serve Globally
Wanna get away? There are unique opportunities to travel and serve others thru HOPE Worldwide's (HWW) Volunteer Corps. They have had a dozen trips already this year, but there is still a chance to be a part of the fun if you would like to participate! The primary purpose of these trips is to partner with HWW to SERVE communities by restoration, education, mentorship, construction, health, and outreach. Volunteers leave an indelible mark of love on the lives of those they serve, and also, their own lives are forever changed. There is a prpgram cost which includes things like housing/food/materials/etc., and there is also the cost of the flight. If finances are tight, there is a limited number of scholarships to help with the program fee. Scholarship applications are required at least two months before the trip. There are two types of trips available:
Trips still available in 2022. Apply ASAP if you are interested: South Africa: Oct 22-30 - SINGLES ONLY: Participants will serve with the Early Childhood Development program run by HOPEww South Africa under the leadership of Dr. Marc Aguirre. Volunteers will reach out to the children, parents, and whole community by running health workshops and men's programs. In addition, this program will spend a good amount of time with their singles ministry. Here is a video of a past Singles Corps in South Africa: Watch Now. Deadline to apply if there is still space: Sept 10 New Orleans: Nov 19-27 - SINGLES ONLY: Spend a week serving in the Big Easy's historic Lower Ninth Ward community to repair hurricane damage, engage in disaster prevention through coastal wetlands restoration, and distribute Thanksgiving meals to families alongside local nonprofits. Explore New Orleans cuisine and the jazz music scene in the evenings, and put a Cajun & Creole twist on your Thanksgiving holiday this year! Deadline to apply if there is still space: Oct 8 Phillipines: Dec 17-31 - Family Friendly: A great opportunity to serve through education, health/nutrition (including a sustainable garden), family advocacy, and community development at HWW's The Laguna Center of HOPE. We would love a medical team on this trip, so doctors and nurses would be most welcome! Spending Christmas in the Philippines is an unforgettable experience! Here is a video of a previous Volunteer Corps in Manila: Watch Now. Deadline to apply if there is still space: Nov 5 Papua New Guinea: Dec 17-30 - Family Friendly: Step into the most rugged and mountainous part of the country serving in the remote District of Gumine, at the HWW's Kalewere aid post. Serve by doing construction, or running a vacation Bible school for children, teaching parenting classes (educators would be great), and reaching out to the villagers. There will also be a medical clinic, so doctors or nurses would be great. Spend two weeks breathing fresh air, eating fresh fruit, hanging with disciples and villagers, and sleeping under the moon and stars. Deadline to apply if there is still space: Nov 5 (Country has not opened up to visitors yet, praying things will open up soon.) Nepal: Dec 21 - Jan 4- Family Friendly: Two weeks "on top of the world," serving the HWW school and vocational training center and the new Center of HOPE in Chaimale, a program two hours outside of Kathmandu. Serve by teaching school children, renovating the centers, teaching computer, health and hygiene classes, and reaching out to the community. Spend Christmas and New Year's with the Kathmandu community and church! Educators and medical professionals are needed but all are welcome. Deadline to apply if there is still space: Nov 10 Lebanon: Dec 22-Jan 2- Family Friendly: Leave an unforgettable impact during the holidays and help serve children and the elderly in Beirut. Spend time addressing basic physical needs and psychosocial needs. There will be Christmas and New Year activities and events, creating unforgettable memories, building relationships with the church and visiting their homes and experiencing Lebanon's unique hospitality. All are welcome, but counselors and trained mental health and trauma therapists are most needed. Here is a video of a previous Volunteer Corps in Lebanon: Watch now. Deadline to apply if there is still space: Nov 10 __________________________________________________ Here is a participant toolkit and FAQ doc with much more information. Click on the button below to visit the HWW Volunteer Corps website for more information. If you can't go this year, try to plan for it next year. We will post when the new calendar is out. Grateful For Your Financial Contribution to Our Fellowship
We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have generously donated or tithed to our fellowship to help us advance the gospel throughout the Bay Area. In July, our average weekly donation was $4,257. We continue to pray that God will move in remarkable ways and multiply what we have to help many souls have a relationship with God. If you are interested in donating or giving a tithe to our fellowship, please click on the "Give" button below. We appreciate any and all donations and hope that God multiplies them in blessings for you and your loved ones. 2 Corinthians 9:6 6 Now I say this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously.
