Sharing: Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Sharing: Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

When I share about being Asian American, I realize that that is not the first word I use to identify myself. Rather, foreigner and alien come to mind because that was my status when I came to the US as an international student and then as a resident alien. I often felt out of place as I thought differently from my peers. In the beginning, I tried hard to be just like the people around me, thinking that it was more important to assimilate into the country I now called home. After being given weird looks or ignored, I stopped sharing my feelings or ideas as I felt it was bad to be different. But now, I enjoy and embrace diversity because my ultimate example, Jesus, is also different. He is proud to be different and is not afraid to share that. I realize that I will always be different because I grew up in another country, and I am a disciple of Jesus. I love the opportunity to learn from people from all types of backgrounds and to also share my own experiences without feeling my story is inferior. Ultimately my citizenship is not based on the country where I grew up or where I reside but in heaven.

Philipians 3:20 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Sister's Breakfast is coming up in two weeks. Don't miss out on the fun!

Our Sister's Breakfast is coming up in two weeks. Don't miss out on the fun!

Join us for our monthly breakfast on May 28th.

The sisters had a wonderful time at breakfast last month, getting to know each other and great fellowship time. It is such an excellent opportunity to get away and connect with sisters from all over the Bay.

This month we will meet at 9 am on May 28th at the Rustic Bakery in Larkspur, CA. All women are welcome to join us for breakfast, and friends and family can come too! This month specifically, it will also be a send-off breakfast and a chance to love up on our sister Janet Hood as we show her our support for her upcoming move.

If you would like to attend, we do need RSVPs by this Friday, May 20th, so we can make sure we have enough space. Please send an email to Liz MBachu, who coordinates these awesome breakfasts.

We hope to see you there!
