They Got Married!
Jerry and Lynn had a beautiful wedding this weekend in Redwood City. They had a wedding ceremony full of love, family, and friendship. Family and friends came in from near and far to join them for their special day. A group of disciples who used to be in our sister church in Hawaii when Lynn (and Brock and Anne) was there, came to the wedding and they all had a mini reunion and enjoyed reconnecting with one another. Lynn and Jerry read their own vows, and Lynn coordinated a flash mob that all sang a song at the end of the ceremony. At the reception, the bride and groom enjoyed a delicious spread of food and enjoyed a ton of fellowship. They heard heartfelt toasts from their loved ones; they danced, laughed, and enjoyed the evening surrounded by loved ones. Please pray for Lynn and Jerry as they embark on this new chapter in thier lives. We are so grateful to have them as part of our spiritual family and can't wait to see what God has in store for them as husband and wife! Congrats Jerry and Lynn! |
May is Mental Health Awareness Month - Families Of Vision Monthly Meeting Is TodayA faith-based family support group for families caring for people with mental heath conditions. - Sunday, May 19, 2024 When someone you love is diagnosed with mental health condition, it is a traumatic experience. You are not alone! We have walked in your shoes and understand what you are going through. We believe that in addition to education and support, we need FAITH to strengthen us in this journey. We meet on the Third Sunday of the month (which is today), between 1:30 - 2:30 pm over Zoom. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV Our group is called “Families of Vision” because we are families who believe in having a “Vision of Hope” for our loved ones. Building Godly families is not an easy in today’s world, and when our loved ones are diagnosed with mental health conditions, the challenges increase ten-fold. This can lead to discouragement and hopelessness. However, there is Hope in God! In Psalm 127, the Bible says that God builds our families and He has a plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11-13, Ephesians 2:10). Faith from scriptures give us hope, comfort and guidance we need to support our loved ones to recovery. By supporting each other in this journey, we will endure and continue to hold on to a “Vision of Hope” for our loved ones. “Families of Vision” is facilitated by NAMI-trained parents and follows the NAMI FaithNet model for the support group. Along with Bible scriptures, we use NAMI’s Principles of Support to guide our discussions. We truly believe that when we are comforted by God, we will be able to comfort others. Thank You For Your Donation To HOPE worldwide!
Last month, for our All-Fellowship Weekend of Hope, we as a fellowship decided to donate all money donated and given as a tithe that weekend would be given to HOPE worldwide. We are happy to share that we, as a fellowship, donated $7000.00 to HOPE worldwide! Thank you to all of you who donated or gave a tithe last weekend, and thank you to those who also donated their time and served in one of the community events around the Bay Area. We are grateful to have a partnership with HOPE worldwide in the Bay Area, and we look forward to many more opportunities to work together to help others in the Bay Area and all over the world. Russ Hargrove, the Chief Development Officer of HOPE worldwide, sent us an email of gratitude after hearing the news of our donation and said, "Our compassionate mission is advanced by selfless sacrifice and thoughtful generosity; please know we are incredibly inspired and grateful for your love!' If you missed out and would like to help, you can always donate directly to HOPE on their website or on our website via the "Give" tab. HOPE worldwide is an option on our drop-down menu. There is also an upcoming HOPE event in SF with City Hope. If you want to sign up to help serve for that event, please click the button below. We are grateful for your heart to participate in both donating your time and money to help strengthen our community and inspire hope!
