The SF Bay Fellowship was formally launched as a Non-Profit Church on October 1, 2020, as the "San Francisco House Church" during the pandemic. The Spirit led this movement with our conviction to launch a new fellowship and soon, many others followed us to begin a House Church in San Francisco. The launching developed into a coalescing of several families that saw the need to follow the nudge of the Spirit of God to continue to grow His church with a fresh new culture based on the love of Jesus.  The Spirit led this movement through us and a few others to begin a House Church in San Francisco. This one House Church has now grown to six Fellowship Groups (and growing) throughout the Bay Area. In 2022, due to our growth from a house church into multiple fellowship groups, the fellowship chose a new name for us, and we decided to change our name to SF Bay Fellowship.

In September 2022, we hired our first Lead Ministry Couple, Brock and Anne Roby, to guide us and help oversee our growth and development. Once a month, we meet in "All Church Fellowship Sunday Services," where, for a majority of them, we invite outside guest speakers to inspire us and keep us connected to our spiritual family in the International Churches of Christ (the fellowship of churches that we're associated with). As a testament to our individuality, each Fellowship Group has its own family dynamic and locale, and as a testament to our unity, together, we comprise one church, the SF Bay Fellowship.

We thank you for being a part of the SF Bay Fellowship Family or a supporter and friend of our fellowship. We pray that God continues to help us shine the light of Jesus in the Bay Area, and we hope to help many other souls build an intimate relationship with God.

On Sunday, October 1st, disciples from many of our sister churches in California gathered in Merced for the inaugural service of the Merced Christian Church. How fitting that the city of Merced, a city named after the Latin word that means mercy or "price paid," now has disciples spreading the teachings of Jesus and the price He paid! 

The initial mission team of just three arrived in the Spring of 2022 to establish a base. John and Jan Oakes have chosen to live their retirement years planting a church with a team based on their passion for reaching the students on the growing UC Merced campus. After nine months of meeting students on campus and in the community, they had their first baptism this March. Since then, they have baptized ten more students and single adults! 

Their complete "mission team" stood on the stage at the inaugural service on Sunday, and each young Christian shared the one thing they appreciated most about being a disciple! That alone would have been inspiring enough, but then, via video, Gregg Marutsky, evangelist and teacher from the Los Angeles International Church of Christ, Gary Simmons, and Chris Simmons appointed John as an evangelist. Jan was appointed as a Women's Ministry Leader. John then preached a sermon from Acts 20, calling us all to have lives known by others, as Paul stated in Acts 20:18 about his own life. 

After service, we gathered at Yosemite Lake, right next to UC Merced, to eat an amazing lunch and continue the celebration. Brock and I left thoroughly inspired. Who wouldn't be after seeing so many passionate campus and singles sharing their excitement for becoming disciples, seeing John and Jan's appointments, and seeing how Jan and John are using their retirement to help change people's eternities? They are true heroes in the faith! 

Be praying for the Merced Church as God continues to use them to change the lives of friends and family in Merced, California!
