Here is a letter from our sister church in Maui, the Maui Christian Church:

The picturesque island of Maui is currently grappling with an unprecedented catastrophe. A devastating wildfire has swept through parts of the island, leaving in its wake a trail of destruction in the historic area of Lahaina. Hundreds of homes and businesses have been reduced to ashes, many lives have been lost, and several individuals are still missing. Families who once had homes now find themselves displaced, with their possessions and memories lost forever. The situation is dire, and our ohana needs our support now more than ever.

In the face of such adversity, witnessing the spirit of unity and compassion already evident in our community is heartening. As we stand together to aid our fellow Maui residents, we invite you to contribute to the Maui church. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a profound difference in the lives of those who have been impacted. These funds will be used by the Maui Church to aid the Lahaina community.

We're also reaching out to extend a helping hand to our dear sister, Tatiana, and her mom, dad, and Tutu, who have faced the unimaginable. Tatiana is a member of the Maui Christian Church. Born and raised on the vibrant shores of Maui, their lives were forever altered on the fateful evening of August 8th. In the blink of an eye, the flames took everything they owned, leaving them only a short time to grab a few items and drive off in their vehicle, where they navigated through black smoke and many dangerous obstacles to secure their safety. The home that was built with love by Tatianas great-grandfather, filled with generations of family belongings and memories, now stands in ruins. Amidst this tragedy, we're immensely grateful that Tatiana and her ohana emerged physically unharmed, but the journey forward is a daunting one. We're reaching out to our community and beyond to ask for your support in helping them rebuild their lives.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for making a positive impact on the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can rebuild, heal, and show that even in the face of disaster, Maui's spirit remains unbreakable.

Please Keep The People Of Maui In Your Prayers

Hello Church,

My name is Olatunji, and I am a faithful member of the Peninsula House Church that meets in Redwood City.

On July 27th, my son Isaiah and I embarked on a vacation to Maui to celebrate his recent graduation from high school and to spend some quality time together before he leaves for Pepperdine University, a Church of Christ institution (yay!). We stayed in West Maui in a condo with an amazing view of God's creations and spent time snorkeling, hiking, and boating. I really enjoyed praying on the Island and swimming with the turtles and angel fish with my son. We had a great time.

On Sunday, July 30th, I was able to travel to Wailea and attend the Maui Church of Christ Service, which was held on the beach at 9 am! It was really encouraging to hear the word preached by the seaside and to sing, fellowship, and pray with our Island brothers and sisters in Christ. Everyone I met was extremely welcoming, and I learned the Church has a group of about 25 disciples. A brother named Quinn led the lesson, and I met another brother originally from San Diego named Gabe, who is married to a sister from the Bay Area. Another sister named Nicole led songs, and they all worked together to provide an awesome and encouraging service. At the conclusion of service, we all enjoyed great conversation, took a group photo, and some of them headed straight into the ocean! I'm forever grateful to travel around the country and attend our churches in the family of God. It felt like home.

Unfortunately, the fires broke out two days after we left the Island, and although I'm grateful that God blessed us with the trip and safe passage home, my heart is saddened and goes out to the people and the tragedy they now face.

Let's all do what we can to support them, especially keeping them and the Maui Church in prayer.

Oakland Inaugural Service Was Last Week!

Oakland Inaugural Service Was Last Week!

The Oakland/Alameda Fellowship Group is Here!

Often God sends His people to different areas to spread His message and to make it more accessible. We are pleased to announce the launch of the Oakland/Alameda Fellowship group.  This area is one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most authentic and diverse places. It is a cultural mecca for families and many young professionals. A surprising number of activities here include a thriving food scene and many outdoor pursuits in the hills and waterfront.

Attendance at our inaugural service was very reflective of where we live – diverse, various ages, as well as a geographic representation (including Zoom) from this part of the East Bay. As we strive to keep in step with the Spirit, one verse reminder from our discussion on John 3 was apropos. "The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Please pray that we can do our part to share God's love and message with the great people in this area. Please also pray that God will continue to grow our fellowship and tha we can have many more inaugural services in the near future.
